SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1003
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the Boys and Girls Clubs of America on the occasion of |
|
|
the 25th anniversary of the organization's Alumni Hall of Fame |
|
|
program; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For more than a century, the Boys and Girls Clubs |
|
|
of America has helped children of all backgrounds to become |
|
|
successful, productive, caring, and responsible citizens; today, |
|
|
more than 4,100 clubs serve nearly four million young people |
|
|
annually through club memberships and community outreach; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Alumni Hall of Fame honors distinguished |
|
|
alumni of the clubs who have gone on to make major contributions |
|
|
to their fields, from sports to entertainment to business; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Class of 2015 inductees are World Wrestling |
|
|
Entertainment, Incorporated, chairman and chief executive |
|
|
officer Vince McMahon, Grammy Award-nominated singer, producer, |
|
|
and actor Trey Songz, business executive Monique Mosley, |
|
|
National Football League Hall of Famer Andre Reed, Grammy |
|
|
Award-winning violinist Earl Carlyss, Dr Pepper Snapple Group, |
|
|
Incorporated, president and chief executive officer Larry Young, |
|
|
Oscar-nominated costume designer Ruth E. Carter, opera singer |
|
|
Denyce Graves, and professional golfer Robert Gamez; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, These distinguished men and women have drawn on |
|
|
their experiences at the Boys and Girls Clubs of America to |
|
|
achieve success, and they have become sterling examples for young |
|
|
people everywhere; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby congratulate the 2015 inductees of the Boys |
|
|
and Girls Clubs of America Alumni Hall of Fame on their |
|
|
outstanding achievements and extend to member clubs best wishes |
|
|
on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Alumni Hall of Fame |
|
|
program; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
this exemplary organization as an expression of esteem from the |
|
|
Texas Senate. |
