SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1022

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Lynn Forney Young for her exemplary service as President General of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a lineage society and charitable service organization, which is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year; and

WHEREAS, In more than 35 years as a society member, Lynn Young has served the Daughters of the American Revolution with distinction in a variety of local, state, and national leadership roles; and

WHEREAS, She led the organization's largest state society for three years as the State Regent of Texas, and she joined the national executive board as the Recording Secretary General; she is the first Texan to serve as President General of the historic organization; and

WHEREAS, As president, Mrs. Young aims to renew the society's commitment to meaningful public service, and she is challenging the organization's more than 175,000 members to donate a collective one million hours of annual service to promote the organization's mission of historic preservation, education, and patriotism throughout the nation; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Young has been recognized for her preservation work in Milam County, and she is being honored at a ceremony for the rededication of the Daughters of the American Revolution Park in Milam County on June 6, 2015; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend Lynn Forney Young for her many years of exemplary service with the Daughters of the American Revolution and extend to her best wishes for the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
