SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1051
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the members of the John Jay High School Air Force |
|
|
Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps drill teams on their |
|
|
outstanding accomplishments at the Grand National Championship |
|
|
competition, which took place May 4, 2015; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The championship competition was held in Daytona |
|
|
Beach, Florida, and it showcased the very best among Junior |
|
|
Reserve Officers' Training Corps members from all branches of the |
|
|
military; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The John Jay High School Silver Eagles are led by |
|
|
Senior Master Sergeant James Henry; the team finished second in |
|
|
Armed Regulation, third in Inspection, and first in both Squad |
|
|
and Platoon Exhibitions to become the Overall 2015 Demilitarized |
|
|
Arms National Champions; this exceptional accomplishment is the |
|
|
third national championship win since 2002 for the school's |
|
|
Silver Eagles at this event; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The school's female unarmed drill team, SNAP II, |
|
|
is led by Master Sergeant William Harwell; the team became the |
|
|
national champion in Dual Exhibition and placed fourth in |
|
|
Regulation Drill; team members did an incredible job developing |
|
|
an event that they performed blindfolded, the first championship |
|
|
performance done while members were blindfolded; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, John Jay High School and the City of San Antonio |
|
|
are proud of the Silver Eagles and SNAP II for their hard work, |
|
|
their impressive skills, and their fine sportsmanship; team |
|
|
members and instructors can indeed take pride in their |
|
|
exceptional accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend the members of the John Jay High |
|
|
School Air Force Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps Silver |
|
|
Eagles and SNAP II drill teams for their success at the 2015 Grand |
|
|
National Championship; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the teams as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
