SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1054
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Renetha Helen Macklin
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
  of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Renetha Helen Macklin, who
  died on September 22, 2014, at the age of 57; and
         WHEREAS, Renetha Macklin began a life of spiritual
  devotion as a young girl in San Mateo, California, and she
  developed a love of music when she first began playing the organ
  at an age before she could even reach the pedals; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout her teenage and young adult years she
  founded and directed various choral groups and served as a
  musician for ministries in San Jose, Hayward, and Oakland,
  California; she founded Praise Team Ministries in 1990 to provide
  resources and support to music ministries throughout the nation; and
         WHEREAS, Renetha Macklin moved to San Antonio to serve as
  an elder of the music ministry and fine arts at New Creation
  Christian Fellowship; due to her unique talent and uplifting
  spirit, she became one of the most sought-after praise and
  worship leaders in the country; and
         WHEREAS, A loving mother and a beloved member of her
  community, Elder Macklin was respected and admired by many; she
  leaves behind memories that will long be cherished by all who
  were privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Renetha Helen Macklin; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Renetha Helen Macklin.
