Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 10, 2015

TO:
Honorable Byron Cook, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB159 by Larson (Relating to the reimbursement of state funds used on out-of-state travel by elected officers.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Government Code to require the Ethics Commission to review state-funded out-of-state travel reporting by elected officials, and send a written determination whether the transportation or security was used for official state business. The Ethics Commission estimated a cost associated with reviewing the disclosure reports and sending a written determination. It is anticipated that the cost could be absorbed within existing resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2015.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
