LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 9, 2015

TO:
Honorable Jimmie Don Aycock, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB173 by Alvarado (Relating to information reported by a public school district regarding prekindergarten classes.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require school districts offering pre-k classes to include information in the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) on class size, student to staff ratio and the type of assessment instruments administered to pre-k students and the results of each type of assessment instrument administered.

The Texas Education Agency estimates there would be a minimal cost associated with implementing the provisions of the bill.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
