No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code to permit a court to prescribe as a method of service an electronic communication sent to a defendant through a social media presence. The bill would require the Supreme Court to adopt rules to provide for this communication method.
Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
