No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Family Code to prohibit a court from finding a respondent in contempt for nonpayment of a child support obligation during a time of confinement for certain offenses of more than 90 days. The bill would take effect September 1, 2015.
The Office of the Attorney General and the Office of Court Administration indicates the cost associated with implementation of the bill would have no significant fiscal impact and could be absorbed within existing resources.
