TO: | Honorable Jimmie Don Aycock, Chair, House Committee on Public Education |
FROM: | Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | HB440 by Gonzales, Larry (Relating to adapting the public school physical education curriculum to accommodate the needs of students with mental disabilities.), As Introduced |
The bill would require that the public school physical education (PE) curriculum be adapted to accommodate the needs of students with mental disabilities.
The bill has no direct fiscal implications for the Foundation School Program (FSP) and no significant impact on the operations of the Texas Education Agency(TEA).
School districts would be required to provide PE curriculum to accommodate students with mental disabilities. There may be some administrative costs to school districts to determine if students meet the definition of having a mental disability.
