LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 13, 2015

TO:
Honorable Abel Herrero, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB498 by Hernandez (Relating to the violation of certain court orders or conditions of bond in a family violence, sexual assault or abuse, stalking, or trafficking case.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Penal Code to include trafficking as one of the cases in which the violation of bond conditions or court orders qualifies as a criminal offense. The bill would add trafficking as one of the types of cases in which the bureau of identification and records is required to collect information on bond conditions and protective orders.

The Office of Court Administration indicates that bill provisions would not have a significant fiscal implication to the court system. Based on the analysis of the Department of Public Safety, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
