LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 1, 2015

TO:
Honorable John Whitmire, Chair, Senate Committee on Criminal Justice

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB511 by Moody (Relating to the prosecution of certain offenses committed against a person in custody.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Penal Code to add certain facilities used for housing persons in violation of the federal Immigration and Nationality Act under the definition of correctional facilities as it relates to the offense of violation of the civil rights of persons in custody. This analysis assumes implementing the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant impact on state correctional agencies.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
