No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to create a subchapter to permit a peace officer to impound or authorize a tow company to impound certain vehicles. The bill would require a law enforcement agency to provide retrieval instructions to the vehicle operator and release the vehicle to the operator of the vehicle or the lienholder if the person complies with certain requirements. The bill would permit the Texas Commission of Licensing and Regulation to adopt rules to implement the subchapter.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
