LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 12, 2015

TO:
Honorable Jimmie Don Aycock, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB657 by Aycock (Relating to the training requirements for a member of the board of trustees of a public school district.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the board of trustees of an independent school district to publish a notice of a current trustee's failure to complete required training in a newspaper of general circulation in the district if the trustee had not completed the required training 30 days prior to being able to file as a candidate.

Local Government Impact

Costs would vary from district to district to publish newspaper notices depending on if trustees complete their required training and plan on filing as a candidate for the board again. There would be no cost to the district if all trustees were compliant with required training.
