LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 27, 2015

TO:
Honorable Myra Crownover, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB711 by Raymond (Relating to the creation of a childhood health program grant.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code to require that the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) develop and implement a grant program to support programs related to childhood health, fitness, and obesity prevention. The bill would authorize appropriations for the grant awards only in the form of gifts, grants, and donations received by DSHS. DSHS indicates that if funding for the awards were available, administering the new program could be accomplished within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
