No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

This bill would amend Government Code, to attach Texas Military Preparedness Commission (TMPC) for administrative purposes to the Office of the Governor, moving it from the Governor's Texas Economic Development and Tourism Office.  The bill would require the TMPC director to hire at least one employee. The bill would allow reimbursement for travel expenses for members of the military base realignment and closure task force, and abolish the task force on September 1, 2019. The bill would increase the maximum grant allowed under the Defense Economic Adjustment Assistance Grant Program from $2 million to $5 million. This bill would take effect September 1, 2015.

LBB anticipates that the duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished within the agency's existing resources.

Local Government Impact

The bill would increase the maximum grant allowed under the Defense Economic Adjustment Assistance Grant Program from $2 million to $5 million.  Eligible local government entities may receive increased funding as a result.
