No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to clarify either a peace officer or an attorney representing the state is authorized to file a complaint in a justice or municipal court if a defendant charged with a violation resulting in only a fine fails to appear in court as ordered or pleads nolo contendere.

The Office of Court Administration anticipates no significant fiscal impact to the state court system.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
