LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 23, 2015

TO:
Honorable Larry Phillips, Chair, House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB872 by Raymond (Relating to the reactivation of a peace officer license.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations Code to require the Commission on Law Enforcement to reactivate a peace officer's license after a break in employment, and without requiring the license holder to attend a training course for peace officers, if the license holder completed at least 10 years of service in good standing before the break in employment and meets certain other criteria.

It is assumed that implementing the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant fiscal impact.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2015.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
