FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 15, 2015

TO:
Honorable Joan Huffman, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB884 by Phelan (Relating to the abolishment of the Orange County child support office and to the divorce and contempt fees paid in Orange County.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Human Resources Code to modify certain civil filing fees in Orange County and abolish the Orange County Child Support Office. The bill would change the name of the fund which revenue from the filing fee is deposited to the Orange County Divorce and Contempt Fees Fund. Money in the fund would be used to meet the expenses of the Orange County Juvenile Board.

The bill would repeal the heading of Section 152.1872, Human Resources Code and Sections 152.1872 (a), (b), (c), (d), and (e), Human Resources Code.

The Office of Court Administration reported no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
