HB949 by Lucio III (Relating to the obligation of certain retail public utilities to mitigate their system water loss.), As Engrossed
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would allow the Water Development Board, at the request of the retail water utility, to waive the requirement to use a portion of the agency's financial assistance to mitigate water loss if the Board determines that the utility is satisfactorily addressing its water loss. No significant costs to the state are expected.
Local Government Impact
According to the City of Houston, the fiscal implications of the bill cannot be determined at this time as there are no established parameters regarding the mitigation of water loss. However, there may be a potential savings to the city.
