No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to broaden how the determination is made for jurors in a criminal case having good cause for not performing their duties and that they should be replaced by an alternate juror. The bill would clarify that the determination could be made either through a finding by the court or through an agreement of the parties that is approved by the court. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
