LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 10, 2015

TO:
Honorable Abel Herrero, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1123 by Paddie (Relating to increasing the punishment for the offense of possession or promotion of child pornography; changing the eligibility for community supervision.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure and Penal Code as they relate to the punishment for the offense of possession or promotion of child pornography.  The bill would enhance the punishment for these offenses and make individuals adjudicated of these offenses ineligible for certain types of community supervision.  This analysis assumes implementing the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant impact on state correctional agencies.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
