No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to prohibit a state or local governmental entity from suspending or terminating an employee who reported a violation of law by the employing entity or another employee to a supervisor at the entity, an individual or office designated as the appropriate contact for reporting grievances, a member of the human resources staff, the Office of the Attorney General or the appropriate law enforcement entity.

The Office of the Attorney General anticipates any additional work resulting from the passage of the bill could be reasonably absorbed within current resources.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
