LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 14, 2015

TO:
Honorable Tracy O. King, Chair, House Committee on Agriculture & Livestock

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1202 by Muñoz, Jr. (Relating to the creation of the community nutrition program policy advisory council.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Agriculture Code to create a community nutrition program policy advisory council. The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) would be required to provide administration services to the council and reimburse 18 council members for an estimated four meetings each fiscal year. TDA indicates there would be minimal costs from General Revenue for these purposes, and any General Revenue expenditure is anticipated to draw an 80 percent match in federal funds. In this analysis, it is assumed the agency can absorb the minimal costs and draw corresponding federal funds within the agency's existing resources. The Sunset Advisory Commission indicates it can absorb the costs of a Sunset review in 2021 within the agency's existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
