IN RE:
HB1267 by Thompson, Senfronia (Relating to the eligibility of certain persons for the supplemental nutrition assistance program.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Chapter 33 of the Human Resources Code to impose a two-year SNAP disqualification penalty for individuals with drug-related felony convictions. The bill authorizes state agencies to seek federal approval to implement the provisions of the bill and delay implementation if necessary.
This analysis assumes that the Health and Human Services Commission can absorb the costs resulting from this bill.
The bill would go into effect on September 1, 2015.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
