LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 25, 2015

TO:
Honorable Myra Crownover, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1282 by Zerwas (relating to a human papillomavirus-associated cancer strategic plan developed by the Department of State Health Services.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require that the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) collaborate with the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) to develop a strategic plan to significantly reduce morbidity and mortality from human papillomavirus-associated cancer. The bill authorizes DSHS to convene any necessary workgroups. The bill would require that DSHS deliver the strategic plan to the governor and members of the legislature by December 31, 2016. Both DSHS and CPRIT indicate that they could implement the provisions of the bill within current resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
