FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 20, 2015

TO:
Honorable Larry Phillips, Chair, House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1285 by Simmons (Relating to the authority of certain personal protection officers to carry certain weapons.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Penal Code to provide a defense to prosecution for the offense of unlawful carrying of weapons in prohibited places for persons who act as personal protection officers and meet certain criteria. This analysis assumes the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant impact on state correctional agencies.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
