LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 15, 2015

TO:
Honorable Joan Huffman, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1306 by Hughes (Relating to the reimbursement of expenses incurred by court reporters in judicial districts composed of more than one county.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to limit travel reimbursements for court reporters in judicial districts composed of more than one county to mileage rates set by the commissioner's court of the respective county of the judicial district for which the expense is incurred.

Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

Local Government Impact

Though counties may have an increased cost due to the expense of raising the reimbursement limit for court reports, any increase would be voluntary on the part of the counties.
