HB1480 by Thompson, Senfronia (Relating to the definitions of dating violence and family violence for purposes of the issuance of a protective order.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 71 of the Family Code to add references to an applicant for a protective order in the definition of dating violence. The bill also expands the definition of abuse within the meaning of family violence.

The Office of Court Administration does not anticipate any significant fiscal impact to the state court system resulting from this bill.

The bill would go into effect on September 1, 2015.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal impact to local courts is anticipated.
