No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require public water systems which add fluoride to their drinking water to disclose specific information concerning the fluoridation process to their customers. The would bill requires a public water system that maintains a website to post this information on its website. The information required includes the amount of naturally occurring fluoride in the water, the amount of fluoride added by the public water system, the combined amount of fluoride, the provider of fluoride supplies and application, and annual costs associated with the fluoridation process. A public water system that does not maintain a website would be required to provide the information annually with a bill sent to its customers. The bill would require a public water system to provide this information to customers no later than January 1, 2016. No state agencies are required to implement any of the provisions of the bill.
Local Government Impact
Local governments that provide water service and add fluoride to their was could incur costs with providing the information required by the bill and conducting a fluoride analysis on their source water. These costs are not expected to be significant.
