HB1582 by Simpson (Relating to the disclosure of all compensation paid to current or former elected officers.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to add Chapter 561, regarding the disclosure of compensation of elected officers.  A governmental entity from whose budget an elected officer is compensated would be required to disclose all forms of compensation for service in an official capacity of the elected officer during the preceding fiscal year.  The disclosure of compensation would be posted on the governmental entity's website or in a place where the entity posts public budget notices.

Based on the analysis of a sample of agencies, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2015.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
