IN RE:	HB1649 by Turner, Scott (Relating to the transportation and storage of firearms and ammunition in private vehicles on the campuses of institutions of higher education.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to prohibit institutions of higher education from placing restrictions on the storage or transportation of a firearm or ammunition in a locked, privately owned or leased motor vehicle by a person who lawfully possesses the firearm or ammunition, regardless of whether the individual holds a license to carry a concealed handgun. It is assumed any costs associated with implementing the bill could be absorbed within current resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2015.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to public community/junior colleges is anticipated.
