FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 3, 2015

TO:
Honorable Jimmie Don Aycock, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1706 by VanDeaver (Relating to reducing paperwork and duplicate reports required of a school district.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Commissioner of Education to eliminate any reports and paperwork required by state law that duplicate reports and paperwork required by federal law. The bill also requires a superintendent to ensure a copy of a report required by federal law is delivered to the Education Agency.

Based on the analysis of the Texas Education Agency, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
