No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code to require a food service establishment to ensure that all employees are certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The bill would required an establishment to provide training for employees and pay employees their regular wage for time spent in the training. Under the provisions of the bill, an instructor of the training course would be required to be authorized to provide the instruction by a nationally recognized association. The bill would require an establishment to provide training for a newly hired employee by the 30th day after the date of hire. The bill would prohibit an establishment from discriminating in the hiring process based on whether an applicant is certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
