LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 12, 2015

TO:
Honorable Myra Crownover, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1874 by Zerwas (Relating to the establishment of the Palliative Care Interdisciplinary Advisory Council.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would create the Palliative Care Interdisciplinary Advisory Council to assess the availability of patient-centered and family-focused palliative care and provide a biennial report to the legislature. The bill would require the executive commission of the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to appoint the council members, organize the meetings, and provide reimbursement for travel expenses. The bill would require HHSC, in consultation with the council, to establish a statewide palliative care consumer and professional information and education program. HHSC indicates that implementation of the provisions of the bill can absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
