IN RE:
HB1952 by Springer (Relating to grants awarded by the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Health and Safety Code to prohibit the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas from awarding grants for product development of a private sector entity or to attract, create, or expand a private sector entity. The bill could reduce the revenue generated from product development grant income, however CPRIT indicates that any costs associated with implementing the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.
The bill would take effect immediately upon receiving two-thirds vote in each house. Otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2015.
