LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION
Revision 1

May 8, 2015

TO:
Honorable Larry Taylor, Chair, Senate Committee on Education

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1993 by Sheffield (relating to the authorization of independent school districts to use electronic means to notify parents of a student's academic performance.), Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would allow a school district that uses an electronic platform for communicating student grades and performance information to allow parents to sign required performance notices electronically.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. Districts may experience some cost savings by transmitting and storing student performance notices and obtaining parent signatures electronically instead of through printed materials.
