LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 5, 2015

TO:
Honorable Robert Nichols, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2115 by Phillips (Relating to the initial inspection period for motor vehicles purchased by certain commercial fleet buyers.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code relating a two-year initial inspection period for vehicles purchased by a commercial fleet buyer. The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all members elected to each chamber. Otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2015.

This analysis assumes that implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within agency resources. The change to a two year initial inspection could have the effect of increasing revenue in the first year of implementation; however, the amount of the increase cannot be estimated.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
