LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 24, 2015

TO:
Honorable Gary Elkins, Chair, House Committee on Government Transparency & Operation

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2368 by Turner, Chris (Relating to the availability of state agency contracting information on the comptroller's Internet website.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to specify certain details that must be included in the  searchable state expenditure database maintained by the Comptroller of Public Accounts (CPA). Specifically, the bill would require that CPA include for each contract entered by a state agency the date the contract was signed, the expiration date or projected completion date of the contract, a description of the goods or services purchased or the purpose of the contract, and the value of the contract. The provisions of the bill would apply to a contract entered into or renewed on or after the effective date of the bill or September 1, 2015. It is anticipated that any additional costs to implement the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
