LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 7, 2015

TO:
Honorable Byron Cook, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2416 by Blanco (Relating to an annual report on the financial impact of undocumented immigrants on the state budget and economy.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Comptroller, by September 1 of each year, to publish an annual report providing a comprehensive financial analysis of the impact of undocumented immigrants on the state budget and economy. The bill would require the Comptroller to apply the methodology used for the Comptroller's December 2006 report titled "Undocumented Immigrants in Texas: A Financial Analysis of the Impact to the State Budget and Economy." The first report would be due on September 1, 2016.

The office of the Comptroller estimates there would be a cost associated with producing the report. It is assumed that the cost could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
