HB2426 by Kuempel (Relating to the effect on local regulation of state law for fire extinguisher service and installation; authorizing a fee.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Insurance Code relating to fire extinguisher service and installation. The
bill would create a new section to specify that Chapter 6001 of the Insurance Code and rules
adopted under that chapter would have uniform force and effect throughout this state and that
counties and municipalities could not adopt or enforce ordinances, orders, or rules inconsistent
with Chapter 6001 or rules adopted under that chapter. Inconsistent ordinances, orders, or rules
would be void and have no effect. The bill would also further specify actions related to Chapter 6001, Insurance Code, that certain political subdivisions may or may not take.

The bill would take effect immediately, or, if the bill does not receive the necessary vote,
September 1, 2015.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
