LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 27, 2015

TO:
Honorable Joan Huffman, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2604 by Dale (Relating to a concealed handgun license application that is submitted by a peace officer or a member of the state military forces.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to remove certain requirements for active peace officers who apply for a concealed handgun license, including the submission of fingerprints. The bill would require the Department of Public Safety to adopt rules regarding the information required of an applicant who is a member of the Texas military forces.

This analysis assumes that modifications to concealed handgun license applications and related electronic systems would not result in a significant impact to the Department of Public Safety or the Military Department.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2015.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
