LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 24, 2015

TO:
Honorable Myra Crownover, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2748 by Muñoz, Jr. (Relating to warning signs for the sale of nitrous oxide; authorizing an administrative penalty.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 485 of the Health and Safety Code to require a business that sells any form of nitrous oxide to display a warning sign. The bill would authorize the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to impose an administrative penalty for violations. DSHS indicates that inspection, enforcement, and rulemaking activities required by the bill could be accomplished using existing resources. The Health and Human Services Commission indicates that rulemaking activities required by the bill could be absorbed within available resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
