No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code regarding the dismissal of asbestos or silica-related injury claims by the Multidistrict Litigation pretrial court. The bill would extend the date for which actions filed before August 31, 2005 would be dismissed by the court from on or before August 31, 2015 to on or before December 31, 2015. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources
