IN RE:	HB2908 by Parker (Relating to authorizing patients with certain terminal illnesses or severe chronic diseases to access certain investigational drugs, biological products, and devices that are in clinical trials.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code to allow eligible patients access to investigational drugs, biological products, or devices if certain conditions are met. The bill would authorize certain actions by manufacturers, health insurers, and physicians to ensure access to such products. The Health and Human Services Commission indicates that rulemaking activities could be accomplished using existing resources. The Department of State Health Services indicates that there may be a cost for the treatment of patients in certain facilities. It is assumed that the costs could be absorbed within available resources. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice and Department of Aging and Disability Services indicate that the provisions of the bill could be implemented using existing resources.
