No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code by adding a subchapter related to Down Syndrome. The bill would require that the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) provide written information about Down Syndrome to health care facilities and providers that would be given to expectant parents and parents. The bill would also require that DSHS make the information available on the agency website. DSHS and the Texas Medical Board indicate that implementation of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.
