No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would create a pilot program in Edwards County for the purpose of controlling certain predatory animals. The bill would require the Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service to jointly create and administer a pilot program to make grants for the control of predatory animals, defined by the bill as coyotes and feral hogs. The bill would require TPWD, in consultation with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, to adopt rules to implement the pilot program, including qualifications for receiving a grant, grant amounts, and conditions for the use of grant money. The pilot program created by the bill would expire September 1, 2017.
Based on information provided by TPWD, the duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources. This analysis assumes grants would be made from the Game, Fish, and Water Safety Account No. 9 each fiscal year for the 2016-17 biennium.
