The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to specify that a special agent of the Office of Inspector General of the United States Department of Homeland Security is not a peace officer of this state, but has limited powers of arrest, search, and seizure. The bill would take effect September 1, 2015. No significant fiscal impact to the state is anticipated.
