IN RE:
HB3374 by Morrison (Relating to information regarding Down syndrome.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code by adding a subchapter related to Down Syndrome. The bill would require that the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) make certain educational materials related to Down Syndrome available on the DSHS website. Health care providers would be required to provide these materials to expectant parents or parents in cases of a diagnosis or test result indicating a probability of Down Syndrome. DSHS and the Texas Medical Board indicate that implementation of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
