Honorable Richard Peña Raymond, Chair, House Committee on Human Services
FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB3410 by Schaefer (Relating to the authority of the Health and Human Services Commission to employ peace officers.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would allow the Health and Human Services Commission Office of the Inspector General (HHSC-OIG) to employ peace officers to investigate fraud in the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP). It is assumed that HHSC-OIG can absorb the cost to commission current staff as peace officers.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
