No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Chapter 241 of the Health and Safety Code as it relates to the Perinatal Advisory Council. The bill would require the executive commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to appoint two additional members meeting certain criteria to the advisory council. The bill would require that the executive commissioner adopt rules related to level of care designations for hospitals that provide neonatal and/or maternal care and complete the level of care designations within a certain timeframe. The Department of State Health Services and HHSC indicate that the provisions of the bill could be implemented within available resources.
